I do agree. I think Burton is very gifted director and he&#039;s made some wonderful films (&lt;em&gt;Edward Scissorhands&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;Charlie and the Chocolate Factory&lt;/em&gt;, the first &lt;em&gt;Batman&lt;/em&gt; film and &lt;em&gt;Corpse Bride&lt;/em&gt; come first to mind), but I think he can be patchy. 

There were a lot of good &lt;em&gt;bits&lt;/em&gt; in &lt;em&gt;The Planet of the Apes&lt;/em&gt;, just as there were some good &lt;em&gt;bits&lt;/em&gt; in &lt;em&gt;Alice&lt;/em&gt;.  In &lt;em&gt;Alice&lt;/em&gt;, I thought Helena BC&#039;s Red Queen was wonderful, for example, and I loved the way Alice kept changing size, but her clothes didn&#039;t - and how she nevertheless stayed decent throughout! I wasn&#039;t terribly impressed by Johnny Depp&#039;s Hatter though.]]></description>
