wish I had a sinecure
and lived without a care,
I’d live my life so happily
and feel as free as air.
I wish I had a sinecure.
I wonder how to get one?
The monarch has some in her gift,
I wonder, could she spare one?
I wish I had a sinecure,
like Master of the Horse,
or Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports,
or Steward of Remorse,
or Lord in Waiting on the Queen,
or Guard of Yeomen Pure,
or Comptroler of the Royal House –
a cushy sinecure!
